World's Edge is one of the five existing maps in Apex Legends. It was a former resource extraction facility named New Dawn, located on Talos, and has been long abandoned and used as an Apex Games arena. This was the main map during seasons 3, 4, 6, 10, and 17. It rotated with Kings Canyon every hour in season 5. The Apex Games moved to World’s Edge in Season 3 because of the Leviathan infestation on Kings Canyon, caused by Crypto detonating an EMP, destroying the Repulsor Tower that sent frequencies to keep them at bay.

Description[]

A harsh planet beset by intense volcanic activity, Talos was once deemed uninhabitable, and only small luddite settlements took root there. However, it became a hotbed of IMC activity when a rare mineral compound was discovered beneath its surface. Heat-reducing towers were built to super-cool its natural lava flows and allow resource extraction - the facility that housed them was optimistically dubbed “New Dawn”, and the town of World’s Edge grew around it.

Decades ago, an explosion in one of the towers covered the surrounding area in a lethal flash freeze. World’s Edge was abandoned, its only remaining inhabitants a small community of hunters who once spurned modern technology (but tentatively accepted it again under the guidance of their beloved local hero, Bloodhound). However, its ruins and the planet’s energy-rich soil drew the attention of two critical groups: the Mercenary Syndicate and Hammond Robotics. Today, World’s Edge is the second home of the Apex Games and a key operational center for Hammond Robotics, which installed the latest in modern mining technology - the Planet Harvester - to begin its own resource extraction.

Biography[]

Season 3[]

Revenant committed the murder of James "Forge" McCormick, an incoming Legend, at the Sorting Factory located in this arena.

Season 6[]

Upon its entrance into the arena, Hammond Robotics' Planetary Harvester drastically altered the landscape, leading to the destruction of Capitol City and the emergence of lava fissures. During a season break, Hammond Robotics constructed a few additional buildings, and the rocket Arcadia was positioned near the Dome area of the arena, complete with maintenance facilities.

Season 10[]

The ecological collapse caused by the Harvester resulted in the devastating destruction of the Train Yard, Refinery, and Sorting Factory, pushing World's Edge to a tipping point. In response, Hammond Robotics implemented the Lava Siphon and Climatizer to manage the unstable nature of Talos. However, it is revealed that the Climatizer merely cools the air, while the Lava Siphon heats it back up, leading to further catastrophic consequences for the planet.

After Bloodhound's village takes control of the Harvester and shuts it down, they turn their focus towards seeking vengeance against Hammond Robotics for the devastation inflicted upon their home. Meanwhile, Bloodhound experiences deep feelings of guilt and responsibility for the dire state of their homeland, questioning why such a calamity was allowed to occur.
