Titanfall Wiki is capable of hosting images for the use on article pages and user pages. To allow for smooth operation of the site, prevent offence of readers, and to allow for easy tracking of images, this policy has been put in place to guide users on uploading and usage of images on the site. Please note that the Titanfall Wiki administration holds the ability to delete any uploaded image for any reason without notice, even if it complies with all of the guidelines listed below.
Uploading an Image[]
Before you upload an image, you need to question whether it's actually necessary to upload the image! Images should only be uploaded to Titanfall Wiki when they are going to be used on one of the following spaces:
- Articles
- Userpage
- Talkpage
- Blogs
- Templates
- MediaWiki Pages
- Categories (On rare occasions)
If the image is not going to be used on one of the above spaces, then please use an independent image hosting site, an example being tinypic. Images which are uploaded that are not to be used on the site itself will be deleted - Titanfall Wiki is not an image hosting site!.
Image Quality[]
All images should be of the highest quality possible - users should avoid images which are pixelated, contain watermarks, or are under 300x300px. Image renders are preferable over non-rendered images when the image is of an object or character.
Here is an example of the Monarch Titan from Titanfall 2 and which images are and are not acceptable qualities for upload:
Image | Acceptable | Reason |
---|---|---|
Yes | The image is high quality and rendered - most preferable version of image | |
Yes | The image is high quality, however still contains a background. | |
No | Image is of low quality as it is pixelated. | |
No | Image is too small. | |
No - unless express permission is given by administration. | Image contains watermark at the bottom. |
Uploading[]
Uploading images can be done at the Upload file page. A walk-through on the use of this page can be found at the Image help section.
The most preferred file extensions are .PNG for images with transparent backgrounds, high quality .JPEG for all other images, or .SVG when applicable (such as logos).
Duplicate Images[]
When uploading an image, you should make sure you are not uploading a duplicate. If the image already exists but is of a lower quality, then use the "Upload a new version of this file" feature found under an image's "File History" section on its file page, this will improve the image that is currently being used on the wiki.
There should be no excuse for not adhering to this request as the Wiki automatically warns individuals of when they are uploading a duplicate image, and therefore users are not left unaware of their actions. Duplicate images, regardless of quality, are at risk of being deleted by an admin.
Image Names[]
If you have decided that the image is necessary for upload, and that the image is not a duplicate, then you will need to appropriately name the image - it goes without saying that image names should not be rude or vulgar, any images which are named as such will be deleted and the uploader warned or punished, depending on severity.
Descriptive Names[]
Image names should be as descriptive and short as possible. An example of this can be seen in this image of Jack Cooper, as he appears in Titanfall: Assault:

The file was named "TFA_Jack_Cooper", describing that the image is of Jack Cooper from Titanfall: Assault. As the image is an icon, it could be made more descriptive by naming the file "TFA_Jack_Cooper_Icon.png" - however this is not a necessity. Other extensions you may see employed around the wiki may include concept, render, screenshot and so forth, for concept art, renders, screenshots etc. File names such as "ghir8heoi.png" or "USERNAME_390.png" are not acceptable, and are at risk of deletion or renaming at an administrator's discretion.
User images and fan-created content[]
Due to this wiki's policy of hosting only official media for use in main-space articles, fan art and creations are only permitted for use and upload on a user's user page (see below). However, there are certain exceptions. For example, the special Titan Restaurant and Community-submitted Banners added into Titanfall 2 by Respawn specifically drew on community creations for their content. In these instances, these images are permissible for use in articles, due to their recognised status by Respawn. Content relating to other notable community works is also acceptable, such as that relating to the Titan Toons webseries. Images that fit these categories can be found in the Fan content images category.
If a file is not going to be used on an article or template, and is planned for use on a personal userspace, then the image must be uploaded with the following prefix: "USER_". An example of this can be seen with a user's Titanfall 2 player model which will be used on that users profile page:

The image was previously named "BaconShelf-Image.png" but has now been renamed to "USER_BaconShelf-Image.png". This allows for user images to be properly identified and organised; images that do not comply with this requirement can be deleted or renamed without notice. No more than four images are permitted for inclusion on userpages, to allow wiki staff to easier perform image cleanup tasks when relevant.
Image categories[]
When uploaded, images should be added to categories based on the image's content. While this is not a necessity, it helps improve the overall organisation of the wiki. To add a category, simply scroll to the bottom of the image page and click the "Add Category" button, then type in the category name. Images are typically categorised as "Images of XYZ" - for example, an image featuring a Pilot would be featured in category Category:Images of Pilots.

IMC Rising keyart.
If an image has several prominent subjects, it is recommended to add the image to all applicable categories. For example, the keyart for the IMC Rising DLC (seen right) is featured in many categories; Images of Ogre, Images of Stryder, Images of Pilots, Images of MRVNs and so forth. There is no upper limit to how many categories can be added to an image, and more categories improves the wiki's organisation for everyone!
Aside from the subject of an image, users are also encouraged to add the source and/ or type of image to the appropriate category. Such categories include those for Xbox achievement art, concept art, renders, screenshots, logos and so forth. Like the above, this allows for easier editing and overall management of images.
If you are unsure if a category exists for a given image, there are several steps you can take before creating a new one. The easiest method to check if a category already exists is to find an existing image featuring the subject that you are looking for and seeing if that image has the appropriate category linked. Alternatively, you can search the category tree starting here and see if the appropriate sub-category exists or not. Should this fail, it is recommended to ask wiki staff whether such a category exists before creating a new one. New categories are generally only created when several images of a given subject are available, otherwise an image may simply be placed in an overall parent category until more specific images are available.
If a sub-category exists for a given subject, it is recommended to only place it within the sub-category and not the parent. An image featuring Jack Cooper would only need to be placed in Category:Images of Jack Cooper, though a picture of Jack Cooper and several other Pilots may be placed in both the aforementioned category and Category:Images of Pilots.
Leaked Images[]
Images of leaked content will be removed immediately, and the users banned. Image Policy does not condone illegal activity, and supports the secrecy of game releases to help uphold the integrity of the wiki. Users uploading leaked content are at risk of being reported to Respawn Entertainment.
Not Following Guidelines[]
Images which do not follow these guidelines are at risk of being deleted and the uploader warned. Multiple offences can lead to an exclusion for the wiki. The criteria for upload may seem small, however they will help to ensure that Titanfall Wiki achieves the best results; and remember, when in doubt, ask an Admin.
