I am the hunter the gods have sent.
— Bloodhound

Bloodhound is a playable Legend in Apex Legends and Apex Legends Mobile. A legendary game hunter shrouded in mystery.

Biography[]

Technological Tracker[]

Bloodhound is known across the Outlands as one of the greatest game hunters the Frontier has ever seen – and that’s about all anyone knows. Their identity is a mystery wrapped in layers of rumors: they are fabulously wealthy, a bloodthirsty murderer, a Goliath whisperer, a former slave, half-bat, and a dozen other things depending on who’s doing the whispering.

All anyone truly knows is that Bloodhound is a force to be reckoned with in the Apex Games. Bloodhound’s unparalleled tracking skills are a boon to any team they join, helping them root out hidden opponents and tracking the enemy’s movements. Calling on Earth’s Old Norse Gods to guide them, Bloodhound believes that destiny is a path that has already been laid out, eventually carrying all to their death. But with that knowledge comes strength, because until that day comes, Bloodhound knows they can’t be stopped.

Origins[]

Bloodhound was born in the town of World’s Edge on Talos to Johann and Brigida, a pair of engineers working at the New Dawn facility that processed Branthium. The family moved to World’s Edge in 2703. Brigida is notable because she worked with Evelyn Witt, Mirage’s Mother. When an error occurred at the plant, it caused a flash freeze and an avalanche that resulted in the deaths of Brigida and Johann, the latter death Bloodhound witnessed. After this, Bloodhound was taken in by their uncle Artur and moved into a village who embraced the Old Ways and spurned technology.

After ten years, Bloodhound was prepared for initiation into the tribe and sent to hunt down a mighty beast in accordance with the Old Ways. While tracking a Prowler, they found that it had been killed by something else that had fled into an industrial tunnel connected to the New Dawn facility. Bloodhound investigated and found a charge rifle which they played with it, intrigued by the technology. However, this alerted the beast inside, which was known as a Goliath. In a panic, Bloodhound fired the rifle, slicing off the Goliath’s horn and seemingly killed it. Bloodhound took the horn as a trophy and proof that they had killed the creature. However, Artur’s Raven watched this and reported back what had happened.

Upon returning to the village, Bloodhound buried the rifle nearby before presenting the Goliath horn as a trophy. Artur became angry and rejected his protégé as they had dishonoured the Old Ways for a quick kill rather than focusing on the glory of the hunt. Artur exiled Bloodhound from the tribe.

While Bloodhound was departing, the same Goliath they had attacked approached the village, seeking revenge. Bloodhound warned the villagers who attacked the beast to no avail, with Artur being mortally wounded. Bloodhound, wishing to help, attempted to dig up their Charge Rifle, but the Goliath smashed it. They then dug out the Charge Rifle’s energy core at hurled it at the Goliath, destroying one of its arms and causing it to flee.

Artur, in his dying breaths, stated that Bloodhound had indeed passed his trial, and that their tactics had led to victory rather than the use of technology. Taking Artur’s axe, Bloodhound then returned to the Goliath’s den to avenge their uncle. They were eventually cornered by the beast, but they sliced open a coolant pipe, freezing the Goliath and suffering severe scarring and lung damage in the process. Taking a nearby respirator to cope, they triumphantly decapitated the frozen Goliath. Artur, along with the other villagers who died in the Goliath’s attack, were given a Viking funeral upon Bloodhound’s return. They were joined by the Artur’s Raven, who Bloodhound christened as “Artur” in memory of their uncle. Sometime around this event Bloodhound killed a flyer whose skull they took as their trophy due to the Goliath being destroyed.

The Story of Boone[]

In the three years following the attack, Bloodhound assumed leadership of the tribe and they began to lead the village to become more accepting of modern technology. The village began to use generators and electricity to join the Old Ways and the new. One day, the village was visited by Boone, a hunter known for his proficiency in tracking rare creatures. Boone initially requested permission to hunt in the tribe’s forests, but Bloodhound eventually convinced Boone to let them join his hunt. Boone distrusted Bloodhound but the pair grew close eventually becoming lovers. Eventually, Boone spoke to Bloodhound about his true quarry - an elusive beast known only as the óséður. The creature is stealthy and leaves very little traces, but Bloodhound proposed that they track it through heat signatures it leaves behind. The pair obtained parts to develop a tool that would track this way, with it being named the taekni-sonar. Boone gave the tool to Bloodhound, as it was the product of their knowledge.

The pair found the óséður hibernating in its den. Bloodhound was initially saddened, as this would mean they must wait until spring for an honourable kill. However, Boone then revealed his true intent - he was attempting to capture it and sell it to the Thunderdome on Solace. The pair argued, with Bloodhound disturbed that Boone would disrupt the sanctity of the hunt. The two then departed on bad terms, and Boone left before sunrise the next day with the óséður. Bloodhound pressured a trader to lead them to where Boone had gone. The trader agreed, and Bloodhound left Talos for the first time in their life. Bloodhound followed Boone to the Thunderdome, where he was showing off the beast. However, it escaped its cage and brutally killed Boone who had become distracted by Bloodhound’s arrival. The óséður leapt into the crowd to wreak havoc and a devastated Bloodhound subdued the creature.

Bloodhound, finding Boone’s death lacking in honour, decided to gather honour in his stead so that he may enter Valhalla. They entered the Apex Games to pursue this end and became one of its most talented competitors. They continue to hold a flame for Boone to this day, twenty years later, expressing their sorrow in poetry.

Season 5[]

The Broken Ghost[]

Throughout this event, Bloodhound generally keeps their involvement at a minimum. However, they do come to the legends aid upon Revenant’s attack after completing their retrieval of the part from the Shadowfall Dimension. After this Bloodhound sent Artur to observe the Legends after their arguments and split over the betrayal of one of their own. They express hope that they will come together now, stating their respect for some of the Legends and their sadness over what they see to be a petty argument. However, Bloodhound declares that the matter will not weigh on them, as they have more important goals.

Overtime[]

One Saturday in 2733, Bloodhound completed an Apex Games match on Kings Canyon. After leaving the arena, they won a brass leg while gambling in the Paradise Lounge. They were later contacted by Octane to track down a group of scrappers who had kidnapped Pathfinder. After Solace City’s hospital was levelled by a crashing aircraft, Bloodhound helped the Legends to escape from the rubble.

Season 8[]

After explaining his story to the Legends, Fuse gave Caustic a jovial "buttsmack". He attempted to do the same with Bloodhound, but they stopped him at gunpoint.

Armageddon[]

After Mad Maggie’s attack on Kings Canyon, she demands Fuse’s other arm as tribute, otherwise more attacks would follow. Bloodhound decides to accompany Fuse and Lifeline to confront Maggie. When asked why, Bloodhound responds that Fuse reminds them of “an old companion,” likely Boone. After Maggie’s assumed death, the Legends gather around a fire. Bloodhound offers a toast “to second chances.”

Season 9[]

Talos, especially the area surrounding World's Edge, began to suffer increased seismic activity, likely as a result of Hammond Robotics’ Harvester heavily fracturing the landscape. Bloodhound expressed grave concern over this and graffitied it as well as calling down Raven’s to disturb the facility.

The Legacy Antigen[]

Bloodhound assisted the Legends in finding a cure for the Medusa outbreak, traveling to Gaea to hunt Carthage spiders with Fuse. They later helped to rescue Loba, Valkyrie, Caustic, and Crypto after the four were captured by the spiders. After the Medusa outbreak ended, the Legends gathered at Mirage’s bar, the Paradise Lounge. There, Fuse gave a toast to Bloodhound in attempted Icelandic. Bloodhound, touched by the gesture, returned the favour by giving a toast to “more buttsmacks,” causing the pair to erupt in laughter.

Season 10[]

Eventually, the Harvester overloaded, self-destructing and fracturing the landscape even further. In response to this. Bloodhound became very distraught over the state of their home planet. Possibly as a result of residual guilt over their uncle’s death, they placed the blame on themselves, declaring that they must atone for their “sins.” Fuse, noticing their distress, sent Bloodhound a letter, offering his sympathy and a shoulder to lean on.

Old Ways, New Dawn[]

One day, Bloodhound encountered a white raven with red markings. While tracking a wounded Prowler across World’s Edge, they heard the raven speak to them in Artur’s voice, angrily reprimanding the Legend and declaring that they had a hand in their parents’ death. Bloodhound followed the Prowler to its den, where they found it reclined in pain. Meanwhile, they continued to hear Artur’s voice, lashing out at them for abandoning the Old Ways. Bloodhound received a vision of five apparitions, each a manifestation of their trauma. As Artur’s voice berated Bloodhound that they failed their home, their family, Boone, and him, they denied this, reinforcing their confidence in themselves. Bloodhound consoled the Prowler in its last breaths, reassuring it that it will live on in Valhalla.

Personality and traits[]

Bloodhound has shown to be a serious character and an excellent hunter yet their cleverness and resourceful is often uncredited as they used a charge rifle to slay a goliath despite being unfamiliar with the technology. This cleverness is further demonstrated through their abilities in modifying the SONAR technology gifted to them by their now deceased lover Boone. Furthermore, Bloodhound is political guile is also an understated attribute as they ensure their village adopted some technology to improve their livelihoods while still keeping to the Old Ways as well as staging political graffiti around the Hammond Planet Harvester.

Physical appearance[]

Not much is known about Bloodhound’s physical appearance other than having brown hair and being Caucasian.
